Want to win a trip to Africa?
By creating and completing an approved Plan for Change during the school year, you’ll be eligible to be one of two youth who will travel with Plan during the summer to see the impact of your efforts first hand. That's right, you could have a life-changing trip with us to an African country.
What is a Plan for Change and why do you need one?
A Plan for Change is your personal road map to change the world. You can start by creating a user account on planyouth.ca and setting up your profile. Next, you can set up your Plan for Change!
Start with a goal for the year.
For example:
I will raise awareness about HIV and AIDS to 800 of my peers by March 30, 2012 by writing articles for my school and local papers, and by posting on social media.
Then create a series of activities to help you achieve your goal.
For example:
1. Write an article on the current state of HIV and AIDS globally for the school newspaper.
2. Interview several of my peers to get their thoughts on the issue.
3. Interview an expert in my community about the causes of the disease.
4. Post my interviews on Facebook and Twitter.
5. Ask my local paper if I can write a short article to be included in the community news section.
What happens after you create your P4C?
Once you have created your Plan for Change on planyouth.ca, send it to Plan Canada for our feedback by changing the status to “needs review.†When Plan’s youth engagement team sees that you have a Plan for Change ready to go, they’ll look at it and give you some feedback. Once they approve it, you’re ready to get started!
As you make progress toward your goal by completing different activities, document them on planyouth.ca with blog posts, photos and videos. That way we know what you’re up to and you can inspire others!
Remember, we’re here to help! If you need Plan or Because I am a Girl materials for some of your activities, or if you have questions about how to use the tools on planyouth.ca to promote what you’re doing and learn more about global issues, just ask.
Don’t give up!
By creating a Plan for Change and turning your ideas into action, you’re helping to create a better world, one step at a time. Your actions, big or small, have the potential to change the lives for youth just like you all around the world.
Remember, without action nothing will change. It starts with you, so start today.
