20th anniversary of the CRC

I’m glad that I can be seen and heard, that I can go to school, that I can be a child and not worry about the consequences. It means the world to me that I am viewed as my own being, with recognisable rights. Unfortunately, not all children have the same advantages that we do here in Canada, but nothing can stop me or anyone from voicing our opinions and taking action to remedy that. Children are so important to our world’s future, and the CRC recognises that, and the need to recognise our rights as human rights, not special rights, but essential rights to our societies. I sincerely hope that one day, every country will manage to exercise the same practices, so that there will be no trafficking, no child soldiers, no prostitution, or unfair child labour. We all have voices, and I’d like to say that I’m thankful for my basic rights and the 20th anniversary of the CRC.
