Girls' Right to Clean Water

Blog image posted by Corey

The United Nations has made it official: clean water is a human right.

But, there are 3.4 million people in developing countries that don't have access to clean water. More than half of these are women.

Women and girls are most affected for two big reasons:

1) They're the water haulers of the world. Did you know that each day, on average, women in the world walk 6 km and carry 20 litres of water? The hours spent collecting water mean that they can't spend that time in school or at work.

2) They're the carers. If family gets sick, they're the ones that are in charge of taking care of them.
