Great fundraising ideas from North Toronto Collegiate!

I went to North Toronto CI today to help kick off their Charity Week. They are aiming to raise $35,000 or more to donate to the bed nets projects that Plan and Spread the Net have in Guinea. Bed nets are the most effective and least expensive way of preventing malaria which kills a child every 45 seconds.

They have some amazing fundraising activities planned and I wanted to share them in case you can try these ideas in your school or community. In addition to a few large scale events, each homeroom came up with their own way of raising money.

1. Fashion show

2. Game of 'Gotcha' where you pay $2 to play

3. Selling food - cupcakes, crepes, pancakes, bacon products etc...

4. Fortune teller

5. Marriage booth where you can pay to get married for a day with a certificate etc.

6. Teacher auction where individuals or departments put things up for bidding like cookies, lunch with the English Dept, a musical serenade from the Music Dept, elevator passes, etc.

7. WII championship

8. Reality Check - teams of four participate in challenges based on hit reality TV shows

9. Teachers vs students intramural sports

10. Serenade-o-grams - send someone a song

11. Candy-grams

12. Silent auction with items donated from the community and families of students in the school
