Ghosts of Violence - Atlantic Ballet Theatre of Canada

Event image
A ballet inspired by stories of women who have lost their lives to violence by a current or former partner.
Ghosts of Violence is an emotionally charged work inspired by the lives of women who have lost their lives at the hands of an intimate partner. It is an innovative and poignant call for awareness, understanding and action. Through evocative lighting, theatre, music and multi-media, the ballet captures the memory of these silent victims and tells stories of their struggles, their hopes, their joys and our loss. There will be a performance in Toronto on February 25, 2012 at the St Lawrence Centre for the Arts. Tickets are available by calling 416 366 7723 or online at boxoffice.stlc.com

QUENCH: A Walk for Water

Event image
A walk across Toronto to symbolically represent the walk for clean water some in developing countries have to do daily.
QUENCH is a walk across the city of Toronto to raise awareness of the water scarcity issue around the world. We will carry water and walk 6 kilometers, symbolically representing the walk that some do daily. The goal of QUENCH is to raise awareness about water scarcity, the availability of clean drinking water in some parts of the world as well as to focus on water conservation here in Toronto. The main aim is awareness but fundraising and sponsorship is also an option.

We usually try to meet monthly at the Plan office with members who are further away joining online.

July 6th will be our only summer meeting. I was hoping to have the Citizen Girl exhibit up at Plan on July 6 but we are going to wait and do that in September. so the meeting is just from 5-7:30pm.

If anyone plans to join via Skype who hasn't already added me, my Skype name is lindseyhiggs.

Last day of school

Event image
Last day of school event

Summer break is about to begin. Pool parties, amusement parks, and cottages await. That is if you are lucky enough to be a youth in Canada.

While you might be celebrating the end of school, youth all around the world can only dream of going to school and getting an education. While it doesn't mean you shouldn't enjoy your much deserved break from the classroom grind, take a second to think about how you can raise awareness or funds to help youth just like you go to school.

Today is the day to celebrate education for everyone!
