Take the Jenn Heil Challenge

On February 25th, 2010 Jenn Heil announced that she would be donating $25,000 of her own personal funds to the Because I am a Girl Initiative and started her fundraising challenge to raise $1,000,000 for the initiative.

Jenn has been one of the most passionate and vocal supporters of Plan's Because I am a Girl initiative, an initiative to claim a brighter, safer future for girls by raising awareness, inspiration and funds for millions of girls around the world.

"While I was in Burkina Faso in 2007, I saw first-hand how difficult life is for girls there. But, I was inspired by their hope, pride and dignity, and by their determination to build a better future for themselves."

"I'm trying to raise a million dollars over the next five years for the initiative, and already have some of my sponsors on-board who are matching my donation from the Olympics."

"As an ambassador of the Because I am a Girl initiative, I have made a commitment to help Plan support the rights and development of millions of girls around the world. I hope you'll join me."

Boys raising awareness about gender equality

A group of Year 10 students at Sydney Boys High School (an all-boys, selective, public high school in Sydney, Australia) chose, as part of their High Resolves Community Action Project, to raise awareness about gender equality. They created a compelling presentation, and a short video about why we should care, and have been spreading their message to other high school students. This is the "boy effect" on the "girl effect". The project was created for UNIFEM (now UN Women) and mentored by executives from Deloitte.
