Our media project started in August 2008 with a three-week workshop that was conducted in Gatsibo, in the Eastern province of Rwanda. Youths from our community worked together with Plan Rwanda and five other partners from Art, Media and Youth Organizations. There were 35 young people in total, aged 12-18. We were given a forum to discuss issues and changes we want to see in our community through arts and media. Through this project we were able to build our skills in painting, drawing, film, photography and theater. We also improved our debate, communication, teamwork and problem solving skills. We are happy to invite you to visit our community and are also excited for the opportunity to share our challenges, strengths, opinions and culture with youth throughout the world.

Our community is located in the Upper West Region of Ghana. We are mainly peasant farmers. We cultivate yam, beans, maize, guinea corn, millet, etc. Our only High School was opened in 1995. We also have a Hippo Sanctuary where tourists worldwide come to see hippopotamuses in the Black Volta River. We mainly use xylophone and drums to entertain ourselves. Our staple food is tuo-zaafi, meals prepared from corn flour.

Okola is a town located 40 km from Yaounde, the capital of Cameroon. For many years, Plan has worked to give children the confidence which can enable them to realize their full potential. It is in this area that has Yetam implements the project in its pilot phase in Cameroon. ***** Okola est une commune situee a 40 km de Yaounde, la capitale du Cameroun. Depuis de longues annees, Plan y travaille a donner aux enfants la confiance qui peut leur permettre de realiser leur plein potentiel. C'est dans cette zone que s'est implemente le projet Yetam dans sa phase pilote au Cameroun.
