The project:
Preventing and protecting children and women from trafficking, abuse and exploitation in Nepal.
The details:
A big part of putting an end to child trafficking is stopping it before it even starts. One way to do this is to ensure that the government has effective laws against trafficking. Plan in Nepal is lobbying and advocating for this kind of anti-trafficking and sexual abuse policy. Plan is working directly with government, police and community groups to create a National Plan of Action against human trafficking.
Plan is helping girls to file legal cases against traffickers and perpetrators. Often, these cases are a big challenge, with violators harassing women who choose to speak up. Helping trafficked girls find justice requires the support and involvement of the community.
Two hundred communities in Nepal formed protection groups
