Wieke, an enthusiastic journalist and dedicated activist, was born in the Netherlands on the 25th of February 1991. Wieke is a Dutch youth representative for European Affairs on behalf of the Dutch National Youth Council and a board member of Youth Coalition, working internationally for sexual and reproductive rights. Furthermore, Wieke works as a freelance journalist.
In 2006, Wieke became a member of the Youth Board of Plan Netherlands, for which she uses media as a tool to spread information and reach out to her peers. Wieke is actively involved in advocating for child rights and wrote the first Plan Netherlands youth advisory paper ‘Amor, paz y condoñ’ on HIV/AIDS and youth participation. As a Youth Reporter of Plan Netherlands, Wieke interviewed prostitutes and pimps in India, professor Paulo Pinheiro about his UN-report on violence against children and young people infected or affected with HIV from all over the world.
Besides theatre and literature, Wieke loves dancing, football and the way the Swedish language sounds.
